WHAT IS LUMPIA FEST?

San Diego's Top Lumpia Makers Compete for the Title of
LUMPIA CHAMPION!

We've challenged our participants to take traditional lumpia, and fuse it with new flavors and ingredients to create handcrafted "gourmet lumpia."

IN A NUTSHELL:

You'll get to sample their lumpia creations and other specialty food items (not just lumpia) from San Diego's most creative restaurants while enjoying music, entertainment, and a lumpia eating contest!

Ticket Price Includes UNLIMITED FOOD SAMPLES.

WHAT IS LUMPIA?

If you've ever been to a Filipino house party or had Filipino co-workers, then you already know! In the Philippines, lumpia is one of the most common dishes found in any kind of gathering and celebration.

It is a delicious snack made of thin crepe pastry skin called "lumpia wrapper" enveloping a mixture of fillings, consists of chopped vegetables (carrots, cabbages, green beans, bamboo shoots and leeks) or sometimes also minced meat (chicken, shrimp, pork or beef). It is often served as an appetizer or snack, and might be served deep fried or fresh.

WHY ARE WE DOING THIS?

As a group of Filipino Americans, we’ve seen Lumpia bring people of all different backgrounds together. It may seem silly, but it really happens. Like when an auntie brings a tray of Lumpia to work for someone’s birthday and the non-filipinos ask, “What’s that?”

“It’s lumpia… kind of like an egg roll. Try it!”

One bite and and they’re hooked!

At the end of the day, the purpose of Lumpia Fest is to expose the beauty of our culture to all of San Diego. Oh... and have an excuse to stuff ourselves with food!
FAQ

Will tickets be sold at the door?

No. Because of the limited availability, tickets will only be sold online.

Can I Bring My Kids?

We please ask that all guests aged 5+ also purchase a ticket.

Are the food samples included in the ticket price?

YES! Eat as many samples as you like from our food vendors.  Pace yourself, though! No tupperware, please. ; )

*The average sample size will be a 2oz-4oz portion. A lumpia sample will typically be 1/2 the size of a normal lumpia.

*Because some vendors will be more popular than others, some samples may run out before the end of the event.
